Does not state length of hose or the size and the product description is ambiguous at best. The hose is 1/2" (13mm) and is 150cm (appx. 5' long). The only way to see the length and hose diameter is to enlarge the picture (1.5m).
Having used just about every type of air hose on the market, I can say the yellow Goodyear hose is second to none. It is very durable and stands up to the wear and tear of jobsite use. The coupler ends maintain excellent wearand far outlast other less durable hoses.
The ten foot length of this leader hose was a nice switch from the short three feet that originally came with my hose cart.Unfortunately, however, this leader hose is not reinforced like the original, shorter one.As a result, it kinks easily.
I bought this item from HomeDepot. It started leaking in the first season itself. I did a mistake of calling Ames about the leak, I should have returned to the store.
Just received. Reel looks good and is sturdy. Yet to put to use, because THE BOX DID NOT CONTAIN THE LEADER HOSE! I will contact the manufacturer - but warn others to be sure to check for all parts. Evidently Ames is not too diligent about such.
OK, so I'm a nut: I bought the Legacy 8611 to install in my home garage.It seems very sturdy -- but maybe I'm not giving it the heavy work-out you might, on the bed of a service truck, or overhead some grease bay.(Note: If you're concerned about such things, this model is from China rather than Iowa; nevertheless it seems well-made. I chose the 8611 over Legacy's newer "LevelWind" models even though they're made in the USA and have the hose-leveler feature -- because they are plastic (PP) instead of metal!Also I like the idea of bolting it down to my slab, versus the LevelWind models have rubber feet and a wall bracket.)Though the description doesn't say so, a 3-foot lead-in hose and two fittings are included in the package.Also, the photo is incorrect in respect to the way it was actually packaged: to use it on the floor (as shown), you must unbolt the upper arm and rotate it 90 degrees (tilt it forward).It's no big deal, but just in case you're some kind of wimp who doesn't want to fiddle around with his/her new toys...
This makes so much sense!My deck no longer has hose snaking all over it, and the can is much lighter than a standard watering can.I do prefer to pull the entire 40 feet of hose out and lock it in place to do the plants in the front of the house (the spigot is in the back) as there is some tension on the hose otherwise, but reeling it back in is a snap - just move the lever to unlock.Well made also, and nothing to rust.As it is sealed, no leaves or sprouts get inside to hinder the water spray.Can't say enough good things about this product.
I installed this on a brick wall and for some reason its foot base disconnected from the reel and fell off the wall, breaking the other feet that didn't disconnect.Poor quality.The auto reel worked well but a bit pointless when it's so called "sturdy" design breaks the first day it's installed.
I HAVE PURCHASED MANY GILMORE HOSES OVER THE YEARS BUT EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE BETTER THAN MOST BRANDS THEY STILL KINK.THE NEW PLATINUM HOSE IS MUCH SUPERIOR AND EVEN REWINDS VERY EASILY.
I bought one of these at a local hardware store and it was broken within one week.The mechanism for spooling the hose onto the reel broke off.It is still usable without it but now the hose gets trapped between the reel and the inside wall.Poor design.
This was my 2nd Rapid Reel.I had ordered this expecting it to be the same as my old one but it was a newer model.I was somewhat disapointed that this newer model was $30 more than the older one and when it arrived seemed more cheaply made.The new one is Aluminum versus steel in the older model.It also required a lot more assembly.In some ways it's better than the old model (lighter, aluminum won't rust) but at the same time the handle seems more rickety because it's not a single piece like the old model and tends to flex where the two pieces connect.The short hose that connects to the reel also seems like a generic 5/8" inch when the older model came with a 3/4" Goodyear hose.All and all it's a solid hose reel and way better than anything plastic, but I think I would have been happier with another one of the older models at $99 instead of this newer model at $129.
I received my order in record time and just finished assembling this hose reel.It matched the picture to a tee.Our previous hose reel was not of the same quality as this one, even though it cost more.The center section of our old reel had been crushed when the hose was wound on to it with no pressure and then pressurized.The center section of this reel is of substantially heavier gauge and I doubt it will be crushed.All of the hose fittings are of machined brass and that includes the swivel section.The swivel even has a C-clip so that it can be taken apart and the O-ring seals inside replaced when the time comes. These fittings were made of steel on our old hose reel and rusted badly over time.Replacing the seals on the old reel was not possible and it was starting to leak badly.I give lots of brownie points for all of the brass fittings and heavy duty welded construction of this reel!I wound about 250 ft of 3/4" OD hose onto the reel and that just about filled it up.I would consider 300 ft to be a little on the optimistic side.Assembly went well and the whole units feels solid and like it will last.It rolls nicely on the large ball bearing wheel, though I could do without having four more tires to keep inflated.I think a set of semi-pneumatic wheels would have served just as well.I feel that for the price, this is a great buy!
I bought this two years ago after going through four plastic carts.Assembly was tedious, but the cart was well-built and did very well the first year.It was left outside through our mild winters and by the second spring it was rusty, the axel warped, and finally, this second summer it has sprung an irreparable leak.No parts are available and repair would involve complete disassembly.
Shiny clean stainless steel hose holder looks like it just came off a luxury sailboat.Craftsmanship and parts are way above the traditional plastic holders.Plus it works! Sturdy construction and smooth rolling make use of this equipment a breeze. A bit pricey, but then you get what you pay for.
This basic model needs to be assembled unlike the ones available at local home improvement stores. I found the unit to be flimsy and leaking water compared to my next hose reel purchase at Sears for $19.95. If you are visiting Sears anyways, you can get a better one for cheaper price and YES, you don't have to figure out how to put all those plastic pieces together.
I bought this thinking it would probably suck since the price was too good to be true, but much to my surprise it is a very well-built, solid, product.It was a breeze to assemble, and there were even a bunch of random extra bolts in there which I assume were backups.The wheels are excellent pneumatic tires with smooth ball bearings.
not a good buy.the plastic connection between the main hose and the wheel typically leaks and when you really try and screw it down, the plastic threads tear.go metal if possible.
the design of the valve employs 2 sharp angles which reduce the water pressure to very low, too low to use the hose to clean a patio for example.
Assembles in about 1/2 hour. I have 200 ft. of hose on mine and it handles that length nicely. A downside for some is that this model takes up more garage square footage over the winter, but you'll still be using it long after your neighbor has run through 2 or 3 of those molded plastic ones.
I love that this doesn't look like a hose reel, but it's poorly designed.We're going to see if we can get our money back.Otherwise we'll just have to chuck it.There's nothing to seal the water connection where it goes into the reel, so more water leaks out of the thing than goes through the hose.It's a piece of junk.Good idea, though.I hope someone else will make a better one.
